✨ Our Commitment to Singapore’s Children ✨
We, the undersigned, commit to building a Singapore where every child—regardless of background, ability, or circumstance—can grow up safe, supported, and loved.
We believe that:
- Childhood is not a race, but a time to play, learn, explore and grow.
- Mental well-being, emotional connection, and a sense of purpose are just as important as academic achievement.
- Children are whole people too—worthy of our attention, respect, and care.
We recognise that:
- Singapore has made important strides in nurturing and supporting children.
- Parents, teachers, and professionals are doing their best for children every day.
- Yet our current systems remain fragmented, and some children still fall through the cracks.
- Academic stress, mental health, excessive screentime, and widening inequalities are urgent concerns.
- Parenting is increasingly complex. Many caregivers juggle financial pressure, academic expectations, and their own unhealed emotions—often without enough support.
- Real change requires reimagining how we holistically support our children—and the adults who nurture them—across homes, classrooms, clinics and community spaces.
And so, we pledge to:
✅ Stand up for children—to genuinely listen, protect and respect them wherever they are.
✅ Protect the freedom of children to grow at their own pace—without artificial deadlines or externally-induced fears of failure.
✅ Promote active play and unstructured time for children of all ages.
✅ Champion updates to primary education—smaller classes, updated curricula and assessments, an end to compulsory stack-ranking, and better mental health and learning needs support.
✅ Create a more inclusive, compassionate culture—where no child is judged too early, shamed, excluded or left behind because of learning needs, background, or life circumstances.
✅ Better support for parents and teachers—so they too can grow, heal and nurture with confidence.
✅ Encourage practices in parenting and education that are kind, respectful, and backed by evidence.
✅ Champion access to high-quality, timely healthcare—including mental health and developmental support—for children of all ages.
✅ Work collaboratively across sectors—because no single organisation or profession can do this alone.
✅ Advocate for national leadership—a dedicated agency or high-level taskforce to oversee holistic child development from birth to 18.
Together, we affirm that, while many are doing their best, we need to urgently refresh our systems and culture—so every child in Singapore can:
- Discover their unique strengths, at their own pace;
- Build deep, trusting bonds with parents, educators and other caregivers; and
- Receive the personalized support they need to truly thrive.
This is the time.
This is the turning.
The children are watching.
